OFTB Welcomes Southside Community Farm
Client news:
OFTB is honored to represent Southside Community Farm, which has been a model for Black food sovereignty in Asheville and WNC since 2014. Located in Asheville’s Southside neighborhood, SCF is a Black-led nonprofit organization that focuses on growing food sovereignty, celebrating our unique and diverse cultural foodways, and building a resilient future together.
“Our mission is not only to feed people, but to co-create a web of food sovereignty in which community members have tangible power over their local food system. As part of a neighborhood struggling under food apartheid, we focus not only on welcoming our community into the farm space but on ‘bringing the garden out of the garden,’ in the words of our elder and co-founder Roy Harris.”
In 2023 alone, SCF harvested over 2,000lbs of fresh food, 75% of which was donated to the community. They host two free food fridges, a BIPOC farmers market, BIPOC garden days, youth programming, free food boxes delivered to neighbors, and more.
One For The Books (OFTB) will provide the organization with communications and media advising.
